Kickin' For Our Kids

In 2012 Cole Pickford created the Kickin' In for Our Kids program.  Cole was playing for Greensboro United Soccer Association, when he started to learn about the needs of so many players.  He was hearing that many players did not have cleats or appropriate clothing to play soccer.  In order to help these kids and others, Cole created the Kickin' In for Our Kids program. The program seeks donations of new and gently used soccer equipment and clothing.  Throughout the year Cole puts out collection boxes at local schools and tournaments, so that people can donate their items with ease. These items are then donated to local kids across Greensboro, including the more than 50 children that participated in the Presbyterian Church of the Cross Saturday Soccer program.

Interested in getting involved?

Middle and high school students are eligible to become Kickin' In for Our Kids Ambassadors.  Ambassadors are chosen based on a desire to carry out service projects within their respective schools or communities. These ambassadors can plan and implement the service projects they would like to do, which can be anything related to soccer. In the past ambassadors have helped put donation bins out at their schools and publicize the program to the peers.  Others have offered to volunteer with pre-existing programs.  Creativity is encouraged. Becoming an ambassador is an incredible way to help in your community, earn volunteer hours or use as a service project.  If you have an idea for a soccer-related service project and would like to be an Ambassador, contact Cole Pickford at [email protected] .
